Some of our kind-hearted colleagues took time out from their day jobs this month to don painting overalls and join a team of volunteers aiming to give a face-lift to some of the facilities at Aberdeen’s Camphill School.
The crew was taking part in ‘Care for our Community Day’ organised by Shell’s logistics department who asked some of their key contractors to donate money for materials as well as nominating a couple of staff to participate in the rewarding day.
John Lawrie Group’s HSEQ Manager, Eric Valdor, and Phil Sinclair, Yard Foreman, helped breathe new life into one of the school’s classrooms and turn the rather weathered nursery outside play area back into a bright and appealing activity zone for the children.
Shell say the day was a resounding success and have praised everyone who took part for not only completing the planned work for the day but also a lot more.
Laurence Alfred, Executive Director, Camphill School Aberdeen, said; “On behalf of the Trustees and staff of Camphill School, I would like to express our sincere thanks for the hard work undertaken during your recent “Care for the Community” day spent at the school.
“Your team carried out some marvellous work painting a classroom, play equipment, sheds and benches. Camphill School Aberdeen is also extremely grateful for the generous donations received which will be used to support additional activities, equipment and therapies to enhance the lives of the children and young adults in our care.”
