Aberdeen-based scrap metal reprocessor, steel trading and environmental services company, John Lawrie Group will be donating a total of £1,500 to the Montrose Christmas lights appeal.
The appeal, organised by the Montrose Community Council and chaired by Joan Stott, is entering its third year and was set up to collect donations to purchase new festive lights for the town.
John Lawrie Group has donated £1,000 to the appeal in recent years with £500 already pledged for 2009. Following the donation, operations manager for the Montrose site, Iain Laing, was invited to switch on the main lights on the High Street.
Mr Laing said: “It was a tremendous pleasure and honor to switch on the town’s Christmas lights. The company has had a site in Montrose since 1992 and really feels part of the community. We are continually looking out to give something back to the town”
