Subsea Production Materials
Production from the Shelley Field ceased in 2010, and as part of the decommissioning programme a wide range of subsea materials were brought onshore for processing and recycling.

Project Summary
We worked closely with our client, appointing an offshore recovery contractor at an early stage, and the entire project was carried out as four separate campaigns. Each shipment of materials was landed at different ports – Aberdeen, Peterhead, Montrose and Invergordon – all of which are in close proximity to our own metal recycling facilities.
The subsea materials included manifold roof panels, concrete ballast blocks, plastic coated steel pipe, concrete mattresses, general scrap, umbilicals and a large steel production structure. Oversized items were downsized at the quayside before being transported to our nearest facility for recycling.
Weighing 550Te, the concrete mattresses were uniquely recycled on an Aberdeenshire farm – under the approval of SEPA – to provide a firm base for a large shed. An overall project recycling and reuse rate of 95% was achieved.
